I cannot hide the fact that I am an IT guru! I simply love technology! and YES! of course I do have a smartwatch to track my workouts and heartbeat rate! But is it worth it to have a smartwatch? Do you really need one? The simple answer is NO; you do not need to have one but having one, is a good idea and it can also help a lot!

SmartWatch / Health/Sports/Fitness Trackers (call them whatever you want!) are good to have since they can easily help you keep track of a lot of important information such as the number of steps taken, the number of floors climbed, heartbeat per minute, workouts durations, etc… All these can be very useful and if used correctly, these will help you improve your results and health.
How did it help me? I ended up setting a target of a minimum of 10,000 steps daily! I can easily keep a track of the number of steps taken and besides that, if you feel like competing with yourself, you can try beating your previous records. Why not?. Some applications (like samsung health and other applications depending on your device) also set monthly/daily targets and allow you to compare the steps taken by you and steps taken by others which will rank you based on your activity (does this make you wanna compete and get a higher rank? 😉 ). If you are competitive enough, this will help you be more active.
Tracking my heartbeat also helped me to improve it! When I started this journey, my heart used to beat approximately 88-90 beats per minute (at rest) which was too high! (average heartbeat rate should be within the region of 60-65 bpm to get an idea). I wanted to improve this and monitoring it 24 hours a day via my watch, helped me to keep record of all the improvements (now it went down from 89 bpm to 55 bpm at rest and down to 45 bpm during my sleep!)
Workouts tracking is also very useful. I do not have to keep writing down all the details, I know how much time I spent working out, what my lowest and highest heart rate was during the workout, I know what workouts I did, how many steps I took, how many KM I walked, etc… Well that’s not all! Some other interesting features are; inactivity notifications which will point out the fact that you have been inactive for a long time and it is time to take a small walk/ stretch (especially if you work in an office and you spend most of the time working on a computer), reminders to drink, reminders to relax a bit and breathe.
