‘HEALTHY’ not just ‘slim’

Most common mistake while on a diet is that people tend to focus on getting slim rather than getting healthy. Agreed, most people go on a diet just to lose those extra pounds and look better but ask yourself, are looks more important than being healthy?

With the wrong mindset, one might do more harm than good and end up weaker. Let’s get this clear, starving or eating just salads is NOT a solution (at least not a healthy one!). True, you might end up losing weight by starving but you will also become weak, feel more tired, and you will have a weak immune system which will lead to being sick more frequent. Imagine having a car and in order to reduce its weight, you decide to leave it on an empty fuel tank. Will it weigh less? Yes, it will. But how far will it get you? Your body is a machine and it needs fuel (food) too in order to work properly.

Chicken, Couscous and Nuts

One should aim to become healthier as the main target when going on a diet (don’t worry, you will also lose weight throughout the journey to become healthier). Following a balanced diet (and some exercise too) is the best solution to lose weight whilst staying healthy. When I first started my weightloss journey, I used to search on the internet in order to plan my workouts and to get a better overview of what to eat in order to keep a balanced diet. This requires a lot of research and keep in mind that should you opt for this method too, I urge you NOT to stop and follow the first article you find. Remember that not everything on the internet is true and genuine. Also remember that we are all unique and a diet plan which works perfectly on you might not work on others. Considering all this, personally I beleive that the best option would be to seek professional advice and have a diet plan designed according to your needs.

Another common mistake is when someone try to switch to a strict diet from ‘the next day’. Changing a lifestyle is not as easy as one-two-three and you need to adapt to the new changes. If you go too hard on yourself from day one, the chances are that you will end up abandoning your diet after only a couple of weeks/months. You don’t want that to happen, right? So try to improve your lifestyle slowly until you get used to it. There is a higher probability of having a succuess story if you take your time.

EAT, TRAIN, SLEEP

For the best results, one must Eat clean, Train regularly and make sure to get enough Sleep. Failing in one of these will leave an impact on your results. If you starve yourself you get weak. If you overtrain yourself there is a high probability you end up injured. If you do not get enough sleep, your body will not have enough time to recover. As you can see everything is linked.

And remember, NEVER compare your results with others. YOU ARE YOUR OWN COMPETITION.
